Free employment support service for Camden residents during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis and beyond 

Help with:

DWP/Job Centre Plus & Benefits including Youth Employability Coaches

Camden jobcentres (Kentish Town, Barnsbury, St Marylebone and Harlesden) are currently opeN. Please only attend the office if you are well and symptom free.  

There are Youth Employability Work Coaches  in Kentish Town, St Marylebone, Barnsbury and Harlesden job centres.

New IYSS Helpline for Camden Teenagers

A new helpline for young people aged 13-19 to get advice and support from Camden youth services launched on 11 May. 

The number is 020 7974 6200.

The helpline is open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2 to 5pm, with Council staff offering advice on a wide range of youth services, including:

  • Careers and Connexions
  • Advice and support from youth workers
  • Youth Offending Service
  • Drugs or alcohol (FWD young person substance misuse service).

 

NW5 Project - Employment, Apprenticeships and Training Advice for 16+

NW5 are running a programme of support for young people aged 16+ looking for help with employment, job applications, accessing apprenticeships, CV writing and more. Details below

 

SHAK (NW6 & 8)

SHAK offer help and practical support for people looking for employment opportunities. [email protected] for information. 

 

West Euston Partnership (NW1)

WEP also offer a range of support on employment support via their Job Coop. More info here, and worth thinking about if parents feel hesitant about using public service support

Youth Pathways for 19-25 Year Olds

Camden’s Youth Pathways Finder project will provide an individualised programme of learning, enterprise skills and employment opportunities targeted at young Camden residents, aged 19 to 25, who are in danger of violent crime, involved in youth violence or vulnerable to being at risk of exploitation.

Participants will be paid the London Living Wage for up to 6 months as all employment opportunities are fully-funded by Camden.

LIFT Programme - Careers in Tech, Science and Creative Industries

The Leading Inclusive Futures Through Technology Programme (LIFT) supports Camden residents looking for careers in the 'knowledge economy' (tech, science and creative industries). They offer:

  • Apprenticeships and work experience
  • Paid internships in local businesses
  • Employability support to develop skills and find a job & more

SPEAR (for 16–24-year-olds who are NEET)

This programme helps participants to realise their potential by coaching them with the mindset and skills they need to both get into work and thrive once they’re there.

Two programmes on offer:

  • SPEAR Foundation - 6 weeks of coaching designed to help you get into work or education, improve confidence, help you develop a CV, provide interview training and practice
  • SPEAR Career - 12 months personalised support, job application workshops, access to exclusive job opportunities, regular sessions with a SPEAR Coach
