Managed Payments

On 21.9.20 DWP revised their system of managed payments (MP) so that payments to landlords are better aligned with those to tenants.  This means that we should receive MPs for housing costs more consistently and tenants will be able to see the payments on their rent accounts sooner.

All managed payments for housing costs (but not arrears) are now paid by DWP direct to Camden’s bank account. We receive an individual monthly payment for each tenant in line with their individual assessment period.

The existing system of 4 weekly bulk schedule payments still operates for UC managed payments for arrears and for AAD payments (arrears and amenity direct for HB claimants)

New style payments appear on rent accounts using a BANK rather than a DWP payment code. We are exploring the use of a spare Northgate field to insert a DWP indicator.

New functions on the Portal:

  • See guidance here  to amend a payment reference. (If you didn’t verify the case on the Portal, you will have to use the existing form here)
  • See guidance here on how to check individual tenant assessment periods and payments.
  • For a quick reference guide to Northgate managed payment action codes, see here
