Permanence and adoption
Most CLA will return home at some point and this must be planned for, with a risk assessment carried out and services and support put in place to support the return home.
Where the permanence plan for a child is for them to return home, social workers should follow the Ceasing to look after a child policy and the CSFH reunification practice guidance which covers the assessment and decision-making process for reunification.
Camden's practice is based on the NSPCC reunification practice framework and social workers are strongly advised to refer to this document when assessing the possibility of reunification.
Social workers may use the reunification risk assessment tool to aid decision making.
Social workers should be aware that it is Camden's policy that the child and family assessment should be repeated for CLA returning home and should use the information gathered during the reunification assessment.
