Collecting ‘LGBTQ data’ on sexual orientation and gender identity

If you aren't counted, you don't count

Collecting ‘LGBTQ data’ on sexual orientation and gender identity

LGBTQ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer or Questioning

What is the process for capturing this data on mosaic?

Below is updated information for recording this data on Mosaic. For more information on Mosaic, including user guides and accessing support, please visit our Mosaic page.

Our gender recording options have vastly improved since we upgraded to our current version of Mosaic.

You will notice under 'Basic details' on a person's main file that you can choose from a list of gender options, can record pronouns, and can add specific gender/ pronoun related notes in a free text box (if you have chosen 'prefer to self-describe' for instance). Please see images below for further infomation.

As we are now recording gender in this way, we no longer require the Person Details form that was in several of our workflow steps- which served as a way for us to record gender while waiting for this Mosaic development.

You will now notice the Person Details form has been removed, and the relevant gender and pronoun information from the main page will pull through to your workflow form where the other basic details are located (such as name, address etc)- see attached image. (Please note, sexual orientation has also been added here as this is not something that's available to add under 'Basic details' on the main page).

This applies to the following workflow steps:

  • Conversation 1
  • Hospital Discharge
  • Support Plan Updates/ Review
  • Placement Review
  • Carers Conversation
  • Safeguarding S42.1

The next phase will be bringing this information into other relevant workflow steps/ forms, that did not include the Person Details form.
