Camden MASH Team

Information about Camden Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub for practitioners.

Camden MASH Team

The Adults MASH Team (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) model provides an entry point for new safeguarding concerns and referrals entering Adult Social Care (ASC). Adult’s MASH is responsible for processing all referrals for people not known to the service, which includes making decisions on the most suitable response based on the person’s needs.  MASH will evaluate risk to people and address urgent safety needs.

A process map regarding Safeguarding referrals to MASH has been developed to outline the steps to be followed and to support your understanding.  

Once a safeguarding concern is identified it can be referred to, and enter the council through one of the following routes:

Safeguarding referrals are received from the public and from external agencies, third party professionals and social care providers such as:

  • London Ambulance Service
  • NHS 111
  • Police
  • London Fire Brigade
  • Hospitals
  • Mental Health Service
  • Service Providers (Residential Homes and Care Agencies)
  • CQC
  • Public
  • Probation

MASH will undertake a number of network checks, which may include contacting the following groups of people. This is not an exhaustive list:

  • Other local authorities
  • GP
  • Community Nurse
  • Hospital staff
  • Police via 101 or MASH Police for advice and support
  • Housing Services
  • Community Safety/Safer Streets- community mobile services within the local area
  • Family/Friends
  • Local organisations who may be supporting the person, such as befriending or the Care Navigator service

If the safeguarding concern was identified by an external agency for example London Ambulance Service or the Police they will complete their own referral form and this will be emailed/forwarded to: [email protected]

Third party professionals or social care providers will complete the Safeguarding Adult Partnership Board (SAPB) form and it should be emailed to [email protected]

Members of the public or a third-party professional can report their concerns Contact Camden (telephone) or by the Front Door or allocated Neighbourhood.

Police MASH Unit

The Police MASH Unit work for Adults and Children services in Camden.

They distribute MERLIN reports, act as an information hub for ASC or CSSW and send specifics requests and attend safeguarding meetings as appropriate.

Often the Police MASH Unit provide advice and support where there is a Police query.

A daily email will be sent to Camden adults MASH team to confirm who is working and their hours.
