A repository of resources to support and improve supervision practice for practitioners, supervisors and managers.

Supervision

Supervision is the cornerstone of good practice: its purpose is to establish accountability, support decision-making, professional development and wellbeing. The process of supervision between the member of staff and the supervisor ensures a link between the values, policies and statutory responsibilities of the organisation and the delivery of practice excellence.

Further information can be found in the Adult Social Care Supervision policy

Reflective supervision provides a space for practitioners to:

  • reflect and consider the emotional impact of their work
  • explore their own attitudes, values, and the assumptions and biases they bring and how these may impact on their work and decision-making
  • consider the ethical dilemmas inherent in practice and develop self-awareness and critical thinking

Reflective practice should be integrated into one-to-one supervision. There are also opportunities for group supervision.

Details of reflective sessions for ASC staff are advertised on the Learning and Development hub There are also other opportunities for reflective spaces - including within teams.
