In Camden we believe quality starts with what matters most to people, and what enables them to live their lives in the way they want.

Quality Assurance

We understand that people who draw on care and support are the experts in their own lives. Excellent care and support can only be achieved by adopting a strengths-based approach that understands a person’s unique history, current circumstances, future aspirations and what really matters to them.

Internal Audit Findings

In October 2025 we carried out our first internal audit across ASC Neighbourhoods and Camden Learning Disabilities Service (CLDS) teams.

The audit focused on “People returning to ASC” within 12 months of having a Conversation 1

Our data shows us that more people are returning to Adult Social Care in less than 9 months after a Conversation 1. Whilst the data tells us one perspective, we lack practice insights and qualitative data. This audit provided an opportunity to carry out a “test & learn” approach for internal auditing.

The Audit Sample included people who had a Conversation 1 but returned in 12 months or less for another Conversation 1 or Conversation 2.

40 audits were carried out by 34 auditors including Operational Managers and Practice Development Leads.

You can find the full report and findings here.

A Conversation 1: Prevention Workshop was recently hosted by Margaretha Staines (Principal Social Worker) and Roisin Harper (ASC Quality Assurance Lead). This workshop was the first time we used a forum to create learning loop and enable collaboration with our operational practitioners and managers.

The workshop explored:

  • Revisiting the purpose and law that underpin Conversation 1’s
  • Looking at what our data is telling us about Conversation 1’s
  • Looking at what the Returning People Audit told us
  • People’s Stories
  • Doing things differently
  • What do we do next

You can find the slides from the workshop here.

You can view a recording of the workshop here  (please note, we are aware there are some access issues, we hope to resolve these ASAP).

We will be developing some practice guidance for “What makes a good Conversation 1” - stay tuned for further updates.
