Supporting you in your role
Social workers must renew their professional registration with Social Work England. By law, all social workers must be on the register and comply with the CPD recording requirements if they wish to use the protected title and this is also a condition of your employment with Camden.
Social workers need to apply between 1 September to 30 November each year to successfully renew their registration from 1 December. For further information and guidance on how to apply please see the Social Work England website.
The deadline for re-registration is 11.59pm on 30 November 2024.
Camden are required to hold up to date records for social worker registration. If you have applied by the deadline, Social Work England will contact you on or just after 1 December 2024 to confirm whether you have successfully re-registered. Once confirmed, you will then need to update your registration details in the Oracle HR system.
Oracle guidance has been developed and outlines the required steps – also summarised below;
- Follow the steps outlined in Part 1 of the attached guidance to access the ‘professional membership’ screen (pages 1 and 2)
- Follow Step 2 (highlighted section on page 3), and EDIT the end date of your current record to 30 November 2024. If there is no existing record, please follow Part 3 of guidance to create a new record.
- Check your SW registration number is correctly recorded in the relevant box
- Enter into the comment box ‘Registration confirmed by SWE on [date] – being the date you receive confirmation.
- Click ‘Submit’ before exiting.

HR will run checks after this date – anyone who has not updated their information in Oracle may be contacted and advice given about next steps. Please note that failure to re-register could result in suspension and depending on the reasons, may lead to disciplinary action.
Professional registration fees will be reimbursed by Camden, subject to the following criteria. There is no need to submit a claim form as registration details are picked up by HR Services from Oracle. Reimbursement of fees will be made in the February payroll next year.
