Information for new starters to Camden

Induction

Lone Working: Social Care Practitioners are required to undertake lone working and Camden Council has a duty of care to keep their Practitioners safe.  The Adult Social Care Lone Working and Personal Safegy Guidance sets out how Managers will ensure Practitioners are supported to keep them safe while delivering support to adults. 

Line managers should arrange to meet with their new starters to explain and go through their duties and job description. 

The following should also be covered:

  • probation periods, further information can be found on Probation page on essentials  
  • starting/finishing times/hours of work, lunch time arrangements
  • absence through sickness - action to be taken 
  • overtime/shift arrangements, as appropriate
  • procedure for booking annual leave/issuing of leave card
  • who to approach in the event of grievance or harassment
  • performance development, for more information please see Performance Development.
  • explanation of team or service objectives including relevant standards
  • team meetings schedule
