Undertakings

• Undertakings are a promise to the court not to behave in a certain way. They are not an admission of guilt. They are normally given after legal action has been started and often offered up as an alternative to an injunction and in many cases acceptance is appropriate.
• If breached the matter returns to court under the same process as an injunction (there is no power of arrest) with similar outcomes.
