Dispersal powers

  • Used by the police only this gives the police power to ask a person to leave a specific location (in a public place) for up to 48 hours and provide immediate short term respite to a local community.
  • The person has to be committing or likely to commit anti-social behaviour, crime or disorder.
  • In the context of noise this might be used where there is alcohol/drug related ASB such as illegal raves etc.
