Tenants should call Central Rents on 0207 974 1486. They will calculate how much rent is due over the remaining months of the current financial year and set up the correct monthly DD, with the tenant’s choice of date (15th, 22nd or 28th). The calculation will ensure that at the of the year the balance on the account will be £0. The monthly amounts will be recalculated ready for the next year.
Any arrears are excluded from the calculation. If there are arrears over £400 on the account and the tenant also wants to pay them by DD, Central Rents will transfer the caller to the NHO to negotiate a repayment agreement first.
A DD can be set up for arrears where a rent DD is already in place. Rent and arrears DDs will be on the same date.
Agreement of the arrears repayment amount if the debt is over £400 must be done by the NHO because you know your tenant’s circumstances and can agree the appropriate repayment amount. The NHO should email [email protected] with the tenant’s details, pay ref and monthly arrears repayment sum agreed with the tenant. Central Rents (and CSOs) can agree repayment agreements for debts under £400. In these cases, Central Rents will email confirmation to the NHO, as well as updating NEC.
Tenants get a letter from Central Rents confirming the DD. NHOs can view a note of the calculation on NEC.
