Conflict or Violence in the Home

Conflict or Violence in the Home

This section contains information about support with domestic violence, harmful parental conflict, emergency accommodation and many more sources of advice and information for families experiencing violence or conflict

IMPORTANT: If you are at risk of injury or harm in your home, you can leave the house.  The government guidance is clear that you can do this and that the social distancing regulations do not apply if you need to leave the home to escape risk of injury or harm.

Parent to Parent (the Winch)

The Winch and Camden Family Learning are starting a new parent-to-parent course in April 2022. The weekly course focusses on parents supporting each other around communicating with your child. More details below

Incredible Years (5-11 year olds)

North Camden CAMHS team are now running an Incredible Years’ parenting programme.

Incredible Years aims to further develop parent-child relationships and promote children’s pro-social behaviour, whilst supporting parents to develop strategies to help reduce their child’s challenging behaviour.

  • Up to 12 parents
  • Runs for 12 sessions (1x weekly) on a Wednesday morning
  • The sessions last for 2 hours and will involve group discussions, watching videos and lots of practical strategies for supporting children’s behaviour
  • Facilitated by two trainee parenting practitioners and a psychologist.

CAMHS have the option to run the group online via Zoom or to run it face to face. They will decide this based on parent feedback.

Which parents would be most suitable?

  • The group is for parents of children that are primary school age (5-11yrs)
  • Where there are mild to moderate concerns regarding their child’s behaviour; for example, not following instructions, oppositional behaviour,  difficulties with emotional regulation and difficulties with routines etc.
  • Parents who would benefit from meeting other parents who are experiencing similar challenges with their children’s behaviour

To refer a parent, or for a discussion about a referral, please contact CAMHS on 020 8938 2232 and ask to speak to Tajwar Hussain or Ryan Carr, or email  [email protected] or [email protected]
