Seasonal Support

Information for practitioners on supporting people over both hotter and colder months.

Seasonal Support

During both hotter and colder times of year it can be challenging for people to keep healthy, active, and socially connected. When meeting with residents and having conversations about what matters to them, it is important to be aware of organisations and resources that can support during summer and winter periods.

Warm Spaces

To help people keep warm over winter, ‘warm welcome’ spaces have opened throughout Camden. Spaces include libraries, leisure centres and community centres. The spaces offer places to relax, socialise with others and access further support (such as with the cost of living) if needed. There are also spaces designed for older people, and families.

A full list of the spaces and where they are can be found here.

Castlehaven community centre have also teamed up with the help of Camden Council with Pirate Castle and the London Irish Centre to create the Cosy Castles iniative. As part of this, they will be serving free hot soup (vegeterian or vegan) and bread, and providing a warm space for the local community. They will also be able to hosting activities, and connecting people to information, advice and amenities. You can find out more here, by emailing [email protected] or calling 0207 485 3386.

WISH Plus

If people would like support to keep their homes warmer over the winter months, they can also be referred or self-refer into WISH Plus. This is a referral hub which helps Camden residents to get access to a range of warmth, income, safety, and health services. WISH Plus referrals and self-referrals can be made online. If you are referring someone else, please get their consent beforehand.

Further helpful referral partners can be found in this directory, which includes health and voluntary sector organisations.

The packs contain the following items:

To access winter warmer packs you can collect a pack from 5PS to give to the resident you are working with. Complete a request form and send to your Team Clerk, who will inform you when the pack is ready for collection.
