Housing Matters
Tenancies beginning
A tenancy starts with an agreement between two parties. The prospective tenant has a decision about whether to accept a tenancy taking into account the tenancy conditions they would need to keep to. The landlord has a decision to make about whether or not to grant them a tenancy. Early dialogue with landlords can help them identify any necessary adjustments around the tenant’s needs getting tenancies off to a good start and reducing risk of tenancy failure.
Social landlords often have resources that can be helpful (welfare benefits specialists for example). There is an easy read guide to the Council’s tenancy conditions on the Council’s website.
