Direct work

It is a key principle of Camden’s Relational Practice model that practitioners are able to build strong working relationships with children and families, and that direct work is a key mechanism for this.

The following online resources are available for practitioners to use when carrying out direct work with children.

The CSFH direct work online resources is currently being developed.

As the Model of Social Work is a relational approach to working with children and families social workers should use the tools available in the Model of Social Work rucksack.

Practitioners can access a variety of direct work tools from the online resource Social Work Toolbox available at this link.

This is a link to a video detailing how to use the AIM cards with children and young people

Practitioners may also like to access the Early Help direct work resource.

The CYPDS direct work resources are available here:

The Department of Education children's guide to Working together provides practitioners with tools to help explain social care involvement to children and their families.

Personal advisors working with care experienced young people may want to use the Foundations mentoring and befriending practice guide.
