Neglect

Neglect is one of the key issues that can lead to social care intervention but it can be difficult to  measure its impact on children’s welfare and may go unrecognised.

The Graded Care Profile (GCP) is a tool used to measure levels of neglect.

The graded care profile is the main tool for the assessment and planning of neglect cases as it provides a framework for the objective measurement of care provided to a child across all areas of need. The GCP guidance sets out how social workers can use the tool as part of their management of neglect cases and to inform decision-making.
