Children's policy and practice hub
Many of the children and young people known to the CYPDS will have special educational needs and it is important for social workers to work jointly with the Camden SEN service to ensure their educational needs are met.
Some children have special educational needs or disability (SEND) due to learning difficulties or disabilities that adversely impact on their education; as a result they may need extra support in order to learn and this may be provided by their school.
Some children will also have other serious disabilities or medical conditions that can affect their learning. requiring a statutory Education Health and Care (EHC) plan.
SEN provision is provided in Camden by the SEN service under the SEND code of practice.
For details of joint working with the SEN service to ensure the assessment of children's needs and the provision of services under an EHC plan, please see the SEN policy.
