Fostering

Camden's Fostering Service is responsible for providing fostering placements for Looked after children in Camden. The service works in partnership with the North London Fostering Consortium to maximise resources around the recruitment and training of foster carers and to provide mutual support and sharing of good practice with the partner local authorities.

Camden recognises the importance of ensuring foster carers are prepared for taking on the sometimes difficult role.

All applicants for foster care will be required to undertake the Skills for Fostering training as part of their preparation. The training is based on the Fostering Network scheme and delivered by social workers based in the Fostering team.

Approved foster carers are expected to attend 3 training sessions per annum, with training needs identified in partnership with the foster carer's supervising social worker.
