Mental Health Teams

From 30th June 2025, a new model of Mental Health Social Work has been introduced in Camden.

Mental Health Social Work in Camden

Camden’s Mental Health Social Work Service brings together Adult Social Care and NHS mental health support in a clear, coordinated way. Through its central Hub, locality teams, and specialist link roles, the service ensures people receive the right help at the right time.

The approach is values based, and person centred, focusing on helping people with Mental health support to live safely, remain connected, and maintain control over their lives.

The service delivers the local authority’s statutory Adult Social Care responsibilities for people requiring care and support where those requirements are linked to mental health conditions. This includes people with long-term or fluctuating conditions that may impact their wellbeing, daily life, or ability to live independently.

It sits within Adult Social Care and works closely with the North London Mental Health Partnership (NLMHP/NLFT), as well as primary care, housing, and the voluntary and community sector. This joined up approach ensures that people receive coordinated support that addresses both their health and social care support.

The service follows Camden’s “What Matters” approach, which focuses on what is important to each person, building on their strengths, and connecting them with support in their community. It also adopts a “No Wrong Door” principle, ensuring that people can access help without being passed between services or having to repeat their experience.

It is important that people feel heard, respected, and understood, and that the support they receive helps them to stay safe, maintain their independence, and live the life they choose.
