Capabilities Statement
The British Association of Social Workers (BASW) have published a Capabilities Statement for social workers who work with adults who have a learning disability.
The Capabilities Statement is structured around the Professional Capabilities Framework ‘super domains’ which are Purpose, Practice, and Impact.
BASW have also developed two implementation resources pages on their website to:
- implement the capabilities statement for social work with people with learning disabilities
- implement capabilities statements for social work with autistic adults
The resources are for social workers, organisations, people with lived experience and higher education institutions and they include:
- a practice toolkit
- a toolkit for adults with learning disabilities
- a self evaluation tool for organisations
- a post-graduate curriculum outline for higher education institutions
Further information can be found on the BASW website.
