Missing Vulnerable Adults

Immediate Actions for Practitioners

When a vulnerable adult is reported missing, staff should consider the following actions in line with the London Multi-Agency Safeguarding Adults Policy and local practice:

1.     Contact the Police on 101 (or 999 if there is immediate danger) to report the person as missing and share any known risks or vulnerabilities.

2.     Notify Community Safety ([email protected]) if there are concerns such as cuckooing or exploitation, so patrols or checks can be arranged in known locations.

3.     Alert relevant health services such as local hospitals or urgent care centres.

4.     Where the person is supported by a care agency, residential or nursing service, ensure those providers are contacted to check known addresses or usual places the individual may frequent.

5.     If the adult is thought to be rough sleeping, practitioners should alert the Streetsafe outreach team on [email protected] to look out for them on the street.

6.     Where sufficient information is available (description, risk factors, known locations), consider requesting the Camden Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board to circulate an alert to partner agencies (contact: [email protected]).

7.     Record all actions and decisions clearly on Mosaic.
