Although we often use the acronyms LGBT and LGBTQ, we’re actually talking about three different things

gender identity
sexual orientation
and trans status

So to get clear and accurate information about the lesbian, gay and bisexual people we support, you need to ask about sexual orientation.

To gather clear information on people who are trans, you need to ask about gender and about trans status
