Identity Matters: Learning Sessions

Identity Matters: Learning Sessions

In 2022- 2023 a series of webinars were designed and delivered in ASC with the theme Putting Identity at the Heart of Practice. The webinars were commissioned by SMT as an area of action in the ASC Equalities Plan (co-designed by SMT, reaching in /reaching out and our staff equalities taskforce) which seeks to tackle and reduce the structural inequalities experienced by staff and residents. Putting identity at the heart of practice with a focus on intersectionality is also a priority in the work to further embed strengths based practice across adult social care in Camden.

The third reflective webinar was led by Shabnam Ahmed who took us on a journey to help us understand why Identity Matters, and how the tool ‘The Wheel of Social Identity’ can be applied (regardless of your position) to better understand yourself, residents and staff.

You can watch the  Identity Matters: Webinar 3 recording here.

The Identity Matters: Webinar 3 slides can be found here which includes a demonstration of how to use the wheel of identity tool.

We held a poll about the webinar, the results of which were really encouraging:

  • 89% of the respondents rated the webinar from Excellent to Good
  • 87% of respondents said that they were more than likely to use the wheel of identity in the work
  • 65% of respondents said that they would either start or continue having conversations about identity
