Autism

The Autism pages aim to enable practitioners to better empower autistic adults to identify their needs and communicate how autism impacts on their daily lives, so that their needs can be better addressed. The section provides lots of resources, information and support that practitioners can access, such as toolkits, practitioner-led drop ins, and details of a range of autism services that are available. If you have any feedback regarding the content or would like to include additional information, please contact Jake Binns or Fung-yee Lee.  There are also separate pages on neurodiversity.

Camden Autism Partnership Board is an equal partnership group made up of autistic people, family members, carers and friends and a range of service representatives from health, social care, police, and voluntary and community services. We are passionate about meeting together to improve the lives of autistic people (across all ages) and their families, friends, carers, and support networks.

Partnership board's co-chairs

The Camden Autism Partnership Board is co-chaired by Sanjay Ramphal (Resident Co-Chair), Becca Dove (Head of Family Early Help) and Chris Lehmann (Head of Adult Social Care Strategy and Commissioning and Deputy Director of Adult Social Service (DASS)).

When and where the partnership board meets

We meet as a large group 4 times a year in March, June, September, and December, at the Greenwood Centre for Independent Living, which is a fully accessible building.

Greenwood is the home of Camden Disability Action and other organisations. Accessible live note captioning is displayed on a large screen in the conference room.

There is also a quiet room, café area, reception area, outside area, and a table behind a screen within the main conference room to support anyone who prefers not to be part of the larger table discussions.

The Camden Autism Partnership Board is live streamed into the quiet room where people can also view the presentations in a smaller, quieter space.

There are many smaller coproduction and advisory group meetings that take place in-between the board meetings.

The partnership board's group agreement and inclusive statement

We have a group agreement and an inclusive statement. The group agreement has evolved over time led by the autistic adult and parent/ carer advisory groups. We are grateful to the advisory group members for codeveloping this group agreement overtime, for ensuring that an inclusive statement frames the way that we work as a board and for reading this out so powerfully at every Camden Autism Partnership Board, advisory group and coproduction meetings.

We all agree that meaningful coproduction, creating safe spaces to build equal partnerships, a focus on wellbeing and autism-informed and trauma-informed practice must be at the centre of what we do.

We collaborate and work in partnership with others to ensure that we link the coproduction of the autism strategy and plan with other strategies and action plans across the wider work taking place in Camden.

The topics that we focus on are led by what matters most to autistic people, families and carers who advise the board.
