Supporting you in your role
The ASYE is co-ordinated and supported by the Professional Social Work Educator.
The Professional Social Work Educator (PSWE) supports the development of professional practice and helps to ensure social workers are connected to core social work values. Our focus is to support social workers to develop and maintain their professional identity within an organisational context.
PSWEs are qualified social workers who pro-actively draw on their professional experience and expertise to provide colleagues and teams with feedback to develop workforce best practice and foster a learning culture. One of the key roles is to support routes into social work and support those training to be social workers, for example social work apprentices and those undertaking social work placements in Camden. The PSWE also ensures there is quality support to newly qualified social workers in their first year of practice, and co-ordinates the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). The role also involves co-ordinating and supporting practice educators and those who wish to train as practice educators.
The PSWE takes the lead around social work education for the organisation, and fosters relationships with wider external networks in social work education (for example, universities and teaching partnerships) to support the development of social work professional practice. The PSWE facilitates forums and learning workshops for students, apprentices, practice educators and other learners as well as offering individual support for practitioners, in Camden and within wider NCL networks.
