Learning and development

Nurturing and supporting our workforce is a key principle of valuing our staff. Camden is committed to ensuring that everyone has access to a comprehensive learning and development plan that will help them advance in their professional development and also equip them with skills and knowledge to carry out their role safely, effectively and to a high standard.

Further information can be found on the Learning at Camden page on Essentials

Best Interest Assessors (BIA)

Training is open to qualified/registered social workers, nurses, occupational therapists and psychologists with a minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience. There is currently no funding but when funding becomes available, an email is sent to the whole service for expressions of interest. Anyone interested should discuss with their line manager in the first instance as manager’s approval would be required. If you are interested in becoming a BIA please contact [email protected].

What is an AMHP?

The role of approved mental health professional in the United Kingdom was created in the 2007 amendment of the Mental Health Act 1983 to replace the role of approved social worker

Eligible professionals are social workers, mental health nurses, occupational therapists and clinical psychologists. Professionals will need to have at least 2 years post-qualification experience in order to be considered for training

If you would like to know more about this role please contact David Hamilton - [email protected]

External study guidance

Camden is committed to supporting the professional development of all its staff. Whilst there is a strong internal learning and professional development offer and many opportunities to learn in the work, we recognise that there are times when access to external development opportunities are required to complement this learning or gain appropriate professional qualifications. Further details can be found in the external study guidance.
