Once a risk is identified, staff members who are providing support to tenants regarding their housing or property needs review and monitor the risk, working with the resident to understand anything new or useful regarding the risk.
Risk assessment should be regarded as an ongoing process. To remain relevant, it needs to be continually updated to include any new information from the professional network.
Risk assessments should be reviewed where there is:
A change in circumstance (e.g. following a new incident)
For high-risk cases, regularly until the risk is significantly reduced
Services will have specific timeframes and processes for reviewing risk dependent on the level or risk and the housing need.
In the following cases, these risk assessment tools should be used:
DASH RIC (domestic abuse)
Residents have told us that having to repeat their story can be re-traumatising and painful, our aim is to reduce this, so always try to use the information we know before engaging in discussion. Where possible, needs and risk assessments and the reviews of the information they contain should include updates and information from agencies and other services involved in the tenants' lives.
