When you hear or see something which concerns you

  • Take immediate action if there is immediate danger and call emergency services 999.  

  • Tell your manager as soon as you can and discuss the best course of action. 

  • Record your concerns and your actions.  

  • If an adult with care and support needs is at risk of abuse or neglect, make a referral to Adult's Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) - [email protected] 020 7974 4000 (option 1) 

  • If a child is at risk or has been harmed, abused or neglected, make a referral to Children's MASH - [email protected] 0207974 3317 

  • For domestic abuse, make a referral to Camden Safety Net - [email protected] 020 7974 2526 

  • Notify the relevant Neighbourhood Housing Officer that a safeguarding referral has been made 

 

Staff members do not need consent to make a safeguarding referral and share information with safeguarding services where:   

  • The person lacks capacity to decide 

  • The person is at serious risk of harm (vital interests) 

  • Others could be at risk, including children (public interest to share information) 

  • Paid staff/professionals are implicated 

  • A crime is suspected, or sharing information could prevent a crime 

  • Person alleged to be causing harm has care and support needs / may be at risk/ is an ongoing risk 

  • The adult at risk has the mental capacity to make that decision but they may be under duress or being coerced
