This procedure is part of the Council’s Voids Policy. It sets out what needs to be done to get a void property ready for a new tenancy. The Voids Policy explains our approach to repairing and letting void properties to our residents, most importantly housing applicants, in a way that clearly sets out the standard of service that can be expected. This procedure on the other hand focuses directly on what needs to be done by Council officers and contractors, when and by whom.

Moving Homes and Allocations / Lettings Officer / NHO

8.1.1. MHT to update NEC with CBL status either when notified that a property is Safe to View or works are classified as routine or minor. 8.1.2. Allocations advertise property (by next advert) 8.1.3. Advert closes and allocations shortlist (1 day) 8.1.4. Advertised properties sent to MHT (1 day) 8.1.5. MHT schedule viewing date and time and inform allocations. (1 day) 8.1.6. Allocations send shortlist to MHT (2 days) 8.1.7. MHT carry out viewing, share property information and update allocations and NEC with outcome. (same day) 8.1.8. Verification process starts and allocations advised of outcome (2 days) 8.1.9. Should verification fail, return to shortlist. (1day) 8.1.10. Allocations create offer on NEC and update MHT/ NHO (1 day) 8.1.11. Once offer confirmation received, MHT/ NHO complete sign up (5 days), this may be at the property or in the office. |
