Can I look after some or all of a shared garden?

We are usually happy to agree that tenants can tend a small area on an estate or in a shared garden. 

Under their tenancy conditions/lease tenants and leaseholders must keep their gardens tidy. If someone complains about a garden we should visit to take a look.

Although we do not provide a gardening service for residents, we may be able to identify sources of help if residents are too frail or unwell to keep their garden tidy.

Can I fence off a section of the shared garden?

It is unlikely that we would allow tenants to fence off part of the estate gardens for personal use. 

For a shared garden in a street property, dividing the garden with fences will usually only be considered if all neighbours agree and if they are willing to meet the costs themselves.
