Our responsibility as a local authority

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and in Housing and Property Management we play a key role in keeping Camden residents safe. We are well placed to identify people with care and support needs who are at risk of abuse and to provide effective support as part of a multi-agency partnership to ensure that residents can live well, safely and independently.

We recognise our responsibilities as set out in the London Multi Agency Adult Safeguarding policy and procedures (June 2019). We are committed to ensuring our safeguarding practice are compliant with the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

All people in housing and property services are responsible for:

Respond to the signs that someone is at risk of abuse or neglect

Ensuring safeguarding referrals are made to the appropriate services

Taking immediate action, where necessary to reduce risks
