Housing Hub
Our housing guidance site
If the child needs immediate assistance or there is a crime is being committed, the person witnessing or responding to the event or circumstance must call the emergency services on 999.
Where there are concerns, staff should try to gather as much information as possible about the situation or event, without putting themselves or the resident at risk.
Staff members should not disturb or move articles that could be used in evidence, and secure the scene, for example, by locking the door to a room.
The identifying member of staff should inform their line manager as soon as possible and agree on the immediate and longer-term actions that need to take place. The manager should be informed of any information about the risk to the child, other family or community members, and members of staff.
If housing or property management staff have concerns, they can talk with the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) social worker about the indicators and see if the referral threshold has been met. There is an option for no names to be shared during this conversation.
