All members of staff and contractors have the responsibility to immediately make a referral to Children’s Safeguarding and Family Help, where there is a reason to believe that any of the following apply:
A child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm.
A child who is not at risk or experiencing significant harm, but whose health and development are likely to be significantly impaired unless provided with support.
Where the above criteria are met, a child safeguarding referral must be made.
Housing and Property staff members and contractors an make a safeguarding referral by completing the referral form and sending it to MASH. You can find the form linked at the top of the page.
Where there are high levels of concern around radicalisation, the Police must also be informed.
If there are also concerns that an adult is at risk of experiencing harm or neglect, a separate adult safeguarding referral to Adult's MASH should be made.
Urgent child protection referrals can be made by telephone but must be followed up in writing within 48 hours.
