Safeguarding adults at risk
Our housing guidance site
If someone tells you something directly, you can:
Reassure the person that they have done the right thing in telling us and we make sure they know that abuse is never their fault.
Let them know we will never discuss their concerns with the person causing harm.
Do not promise confidentiality, explaining that we may have to share information with others to help keep them safe.
Proactively provide information and resources to help them keep safe and where we can, let them know what will happen next.
Its key to remember to:
Never discuss the concern with the person alleged to have caused harm or with anyone else present.
Discuss concerns in a safe and confidential location, ensuring that you cannot be overheard.
Always use a professional interpreter where needed. We will not rely on family or friends to provide translation support.
