Safeguarding adults at risk

Making a safeguarding referral

ll members of staff and contractors have the responsibility to make a safeguarding referral within 24 hours where there is reason to believe that an adult:

  • Has needs for care and support

  • Is experiencing, or is at risk of, abuse and neglect, and

  • There are concerns that they are unable to protect themself from the abuse or neglect or the risk of it.

If a member of staff has concerns, they must act. Delay could mean the abuse or neglect continues or increases the likelihood of serious harm.

Referral forms can be found at the top of the page.
