Information sharing

We are duty bound to report concerns about adults at risk exposed to actual or suspected abuse and share information for the purposes of safeguarding in accordance with our duties as set out in the Care Act 2014 and General Data Protection Regulations 2018.

These include situations where:

  • The adult lacks mental capacity

  • The adult and/or others are at risk of significant harm

  • The adult appears to under duress or being coerced by another

  • Paid staff or professionals are implicated

  • A crime is suspected, or sharing information could prevent a crime

  • Person alleged to be causing harm has care and support needs, may be at risk or is an ongoing risk

You do not need consent or to discuss the referral with the adult at risk. In some cases, it might put them at risk of further harm. Please discuss this with your manager or other services working with the adult if you are unsure.
