Safeguarding Family Group Conference (SFGC)

Children Social Services are now offering some families a Safeguarding Family Group Conference (SFGC) instead of having an Initial Child Protection Conference (ICPC).

A SFGC is a family led meeting with the child’s Social Worker, facilitated by an Independent Family Group Conference Co-ordinator.

The aim of the SFGC is for their family to create their own plan that addresses the concerns raised about the child’s safety, drawing on strengths and the support network around the tenant.

The tenant will choose which family members, friends, neighbours and advocates they would like to attend the SFGC to support them in making the changes needed to address the concerns raised.

For more information, please see the leaflet. Tenants who are interested in having a family group conference can find more information and contact details online.
