High-risk panels and safeguarding meetings

Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)

The referrals are for individuals: 

  • Living with or escaping domestic violence 

  • Experiencing violence or threats of violence  

  • Where there is a pattern of stalking or harassment 

  • Where rape or sexual abuse is disclosed. 

Reason for referral: 

  • Four or more Domestic Violence incidents in the past 12 months. 

  • Case is high risk under the MARAC Risk Assessment form 

  • Victim considered by Professional to be at risk of serious harm or death 

  • Victim has stated they feel at risk of serious harm or death 

  • Victim has been referred to the MARAC in the last 12 months and there has been one or further domestic violence incident since the referral 

The panel meets fortnightly. Housing is permanently represented at Camden MARAC meetings. The MARAC panel scrutinises cases and ensures that individuals living with or escaping domestic violence has  

  • a multi-agency partnership approach and timely action to protect victims and children from further abuse. 

  • To put in place safety measures to reduce/manage the risk posed. 

  • To provide relevant information on the case and assist in the development and execution of the risk management plan. 

All MARAC referrals are automatically shared with the Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate (IDSVA/IDVA) service. 

The DVA Case Coordinator for Neighbourhood is responsible for information gathering for MARAC and is the point of contact for Housing. Officers are expected to attend if a referral is made or for a relevant case discussion.
