Useful contacts and links to help with looking after our vulnerable residents and children
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is protecting vulnerable adults or children's right to live in safety, free from abuse or neglect. Local authorities have a statutory responsibility for safeguarding. In partnership with health we have a duty to promote wellbeing within local communities.
In emergencies contact the police on 999. They have powers to intervene when there are concerns of significant harm to a child.
Otherwise, if you see or hear something that concerns you, you can refer it to the Multi Agency Hub (MASH) on an eCAF form. The form and instructions are on this webpage here. The form is also linked to on the top of this page.
This has representatives from children's safeguarding, social services, police and health services.
Cases are prioritised according to the level of concern from 4 hours to 3 days.
Out of hours you can contact the emergency duty telephone number 020 7974 4444.
It is best to get parental consent for a referral but if this would place the child at further risk you can contact MASH to discuss this on a no names basis.
