Covid-19 guidance - old content

In certain circumstances (such as an abandonment or an eviction where belongings are left behind) a decision is needed around whether we have the right to dispose or will need to store belongings for a certain amount of time.

Written permission to dispose

For example, on a notice of vacation

Where this has been given the void can be cleared.

  • However, if, at any point, we find any small items of value accidentally left by the outgoing tenant (such as cash, credit cards, passports or jewellery) these will need to be placed into a safe place.  The NHO will need to attempt to make contact with the outgoing tenant or NOK and seek legal advice if this isn’t possible.   See the Removal of former tenants' belongings procedure.

No permission to dispose

For example, possibly after eviction, abandonment, etc. refer to the Removal of former tenants’ belongings procedure.

Never remove anything for your own personal use.
