Money Advice

No recourse to public funds

Likely where the resident is subject to immigration control.

A person who is subject to immigration control cannot claim public funds (benefits and housing assistance) unless an exception applies. 

If children are involved contact Children, schools and families social care who have an obligation under Section 17 of the Children Act 1989 to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in need. 

There are organisations that help individuals/families who have no recourse to public funds, Project 17 provides a advice and advocacy telephone service.  Please refer to Project 17 website for more information.
