Getting residents involved
Our housing guidance site
Corporate Participation and Partnerships team works across Camden, with residents of all tenure types, to empower them to influence decisions, share power, and drive meaningful social action within their communities. We believe that by fostering strong local connections and relationships, residents are best placed to shape the future of their neighbourhoods and the services that affect them.
Our team focuses on three key areas to achieve this:
Social Action and Neighbourhoods: Our aim is to amplify community voice, support the development of local projects, and promote community leadership. We do this by supporting local networks like One Kilburn and Kentish Town Connects, and working in partnership with Camden Giving on the We Make Camden Kit, supporting Community Champions, and actively working to remove barriers to participation.
Deliberative Participation: We bring together Camden communities to explore various perspectives on issues and topics, ultimately working towards joint decisions. Our practical approach includes hosting citizens' assemblies on strategic priorities, developing residents' panels (such as the Tenants' Panel) to ensure resident involvement in key decisions, and facilitating community conversations for residents to provide input on important topics. We also manage two online engagement platforms: Citizen Space and We Are Camden.
Community Wealth Fund (Youth Participation): This initiative focuses on designing an investment fund that will provide repayable loans, equity finance, and business support to individuals, businesses, and organisations across Camden. We are co-designing the Fund's investment strategy alongside young people aged 16-30, with a particular focus on including those often underrepresented by existing finance options. This involves convening a regular panel of young people and piloting new participation approaches.
