Getting residents involved
Our housing guidance site
There are some fantastic examples of residents in action already happening in housing and locally in estates and neighbourhoods.
We Make Camden stories, including particularly estate-based and Nhood examples of One Kilburn, the community fund they co-produced, and this example based on Peckwater Estate.
Resident Action Day: A group of tenants and leaseholders come together to organise and deliver a conference style event bringing together active tenants and leaseholders with the council and partners to share ideas, skills, and inspiration for the future of our estates and neighbourhoods. The programme changes annually dependent on needs of the community. The working groups co-design objectives are to:
Encourage residents to actively participate in their communities and housing services
Connect communities across Camden, sharing ideas, solutions, and a vision for resident participation.
Bring together Council service, residents, and partner organizations, sharing learning and ideas
Centre the diversity, creativity, and resourcefulness of Camden tenants and leaseholders and resident groups
101 tenants and leaseholders attended, made up of resident groups, community champions, panel members, community organizers, and other key collaborators. The programme consisted of a range of activities which focused on the most pressing issues for tenants and leaseholders. An overview of the event is shown here.
86% of residents felt like they gained insight or understanding from the day and 84% of respondents felt inspired by the activities and other's experiences
