Essential repair transfers take place when residents have to move out of their homes, either temporarily or permanently, to allow us to carry out repairs.
These pages set out practical steps for staff to follow when dealing with an essential repair transfer.
If the resident doesn’t arrange his or her own short-term temporary accommodation, we can do this ideally by using our own stock. However, if the move is urgent this may need to be arranged by the temporary placements team, possibly to B&B hotels which may be outside Camden.
A request providing all the relevant details (current address, reason for move, size of household, date needed) can be emailed to the temporary placements team including any known vulnerability, medical or risk issues.
For these very short term moves there are specific payments that we can make to the tenant.
If we can we should use our own stock for these short term moves. Try to identify a suitable void for a direct offer. The allocations team will allocate when a suitable void is found.
