Essential repairs procedure

If the repairs are likely to take more than 2 months a referral needs to be made to the verification team using the standard rehousing referral form (see under “Essential repairs”).

Before sending the referral form:

  • Find out whether the resident wants a permanent or temporary move and record this on the referral form.
  • At present an on-line self assessment form is also needed if they are not already registered.
  • Let the verification team know of any risk.

If the resident wants a permanent transfer, this will be on an assessed bed need of property type and most likely on an estate.

The tenant can opt for a temporary transfer if they wish to move back into their original property once the repairs have been carried out. The process for the move would be the same as if for a permanent move, however, the resident is signed up on a temporary license.
