Responding to perpetrators of DVA

Responding to perpetrators of DVA

The Council’s clear message to tenants who perpetrate domestic violence or abuse is that it will not be tolerated. DVA explicitly breaks the conditions of tenancy. It is a ground for possession of a secure tenancy in the Housing Act (HA)1985. Action against perpetrators can help keep the survivor safe (as well as potential future victims) and can increase their options.  Here are some options to help you deal with perpetrators of DVA.

Help for perpetrators/working with perpetrators

There are programmes to help rehabilitate perpetrators of domestic abuse. More information on these can be found at:

Camden DAPP (Domestic Abuse Perpetrators Panel).  Camden now holds a monthly Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Panel (DAPP).  The idea is to have a multi-agency panel for managing risk and coordinating actions around high-risk perpetrators. DAPPs have a strong focus on actions that disrupt the person’s ability to offend, with the safety of the child and/or adult survivor kept centre. See here or contact Cornelia Bickersteth for more info.  To refer, please complete the DAPP Referral form and send to [email protected]

Respect offer advice, help and support to perpetrators of domestic abuse and for front line workers, including a help line. More information here.

The Drive project (in partnership with Respect) specialise in working with high risk, high harm perpetrators. See leaflet for more info here.

Drive is a national project, with service providers delivering  interventions in local areas. They partner with local specialist domestic abuse organisations to design and deliver a programme tailored for the locality.

They offer free advice to professional working with perpetrators of domestic abuse. For more information see here.
