Emergency temporary accommodation

Emergency temporary accommodation

Here is the full EMTA guidance with instructions on how to do a search for EMTA on NEC.

About our EMTA

EMTA stands for Emergency Temporary Accommodation. These are voids that have been furnished and carpeted (in some cases) and then held empty pending being occupied by emergency cases and, after the case has moved on, continue to be managed as empty EMTA again.

Purpose

EMTAs were set up during the first Covid lockdown in 2020. The purpose was to provide short term emergency accommodation for DV survivors who couldn’t be placed into hotels due to them being closed. Key safes were fitted so access could be given out of hours. These have continued to provide emergency temporary accommodation since and are still meant to be used for absolute emergencies.

There are only a small number and hence an expectation that people will move on as soon as they can to release the EMTA for the next emergency.

Please read the Principals on the following page before progressing a case.
