Family Early Help
You should not use Zoom for arranging work related meetings. This guidance is here to help you if you are invited to a Zoom meeting by an external organisation.
There have been a number of reported cases nationally and internationally of Zoombombing. This is where a zoom meeting can be hacked, and inappropriate or offensive images can be shown by the hacker to everyone on the call. This is why Camden has taken the decision not to use Zoom for work purposes.
If an External Organisation Invites you to a Zoom meeting
An external professional may organise a Zoom call that you are required to attend (for example a TAF or an NHS meeting). In those circumstances, please talk with your line manager.
You or your line manager must ask the person organising the meeting to confirm they have taken the necessary security and safety measures on Zoom. These include:
- requiring a password and unique meeting ID which has only been shared with the people attending
- that a waiting room will be set up for the host to admit people into the call
- that the host will lock the room (call) once all the attendees are in
- that the host will be disabling screen sharing and chat functions for everyone on the call except the host
There is further advice about setting Zoom safety and security features on this link. Please make sure the person organising the call has taken all the advice given here:
If you are in any doubt that those security measures have not been taken, do not attend the meeting and seek a different way to input to the meeting discussion.
Here is information you should read before accepting an invitation from an external organisation to a Zoom call
It is not possible to guarantee that the Zoom online space is 100% safe. If you do attend a Zoom call arranged by an external organisation, and you are working in your own home, you should consider how you will ensure you keep yourself and your family safe in the event that a Zoombomb occurred (for example are you in a separate room away from your family)
