Children Missing Education (CME)
Children missing from education (CME) are defined as children of compulsory school
age who are not:
- on a school roll
- placed in alternative provision by the local authority
- receiving a suitable education elsewhere, either at home or within the private sector.
If you are working with a child who is missing education for one of these reasons, there is a Camden team who want to help. Here is the CME referral form, and you can contact Sona Ruparell (on Outlook).
Children Excluded, or At Risk of Being Excluded, from School
School exclusions, fixed and permanent, can happen for a wide range of reasons. Here is a link to Camden's website pages on exclusions
https://www.camden.gov.uk/exclusion-from-school#hdkp
If you are working with a child or young person who has had a fixed or permanent exclusion, and would like some help to make sure they can access education and scaffolding support, contact Dylan Buckle in the School Inclusion Team (on outlook).
Primary Inclusion Forum for Primary School Children at Risk of Exclusion
The Primary Inclusion Forum was created to support at-risk primary school students and to reduce exclusions from schools. Family Early Help have been a member of the panel since its inception, to make sure families who are experiencing exclusion from school can access our support if and when they need it.
The Forum is set up to support:
- Children Missing Education and who need a place under the criteria outlined in the Fair
Access Protocol, referred via School Inclusion - Children in specialist provision who need a mainstream school for reintegration, referred via Robson House
- Children in mainstream school who are at risk of permanent exclusion, referred via
mainstream school
A referral to the Forum Panel should be generated in a TAF meeting where the parent(s) or carer(s) are able to play a central part.
You can read more about the Primary Inclusion Forum in this document, or if you would like advice or information about the Forum, contact Elaine Dunning in FIF or Dylan Buckle in School Inclusion (on Outlook)
